DESCRIPTION

The International Council of Museums (ICOM) established 18 May as International Museum Day in 1977 to highlight museums’ role in modern society. This year’s International Museum Day aims to highlight museums as places of convergence for education and research, covering, according to ICOM, “… a broad field, from art and history to science and technology, where innovation meets tradition”.

At the core of this convergence between education and research are the concepts of inclusion, sustainability and innovation. In the context of International Museum Day, JOIST Innovation Park, VRARA (VR/AR Association), and the Smooth Music Theatre Workshop are co-organizing an open event. Through a set of interactive activities and informative presentations, the aim is to highlight the importance of the concepts of inclusion and innovation in culture for a more sustainable world. In this process, new technologies play a crucial role, both in education and culture, in shaping an inclusive world.

Everyone, young and old, is welcome to celebrate International Museum Day by participating in various activities in which immersive technologies play a leading role. Supporting everyone to create an inclusive world in which culture and education innovate is everyone’s business!

This event is addressed to:

  • Organizations, bodies, culture workshops
  • Startups and culture enterprises
  • Primary and Secondary Education Schools
  • Workers in education and the arts
  • People with mobility and sensory impairments
  • Health facilities for people with reduced mobility and public hospitals
