The GUERRE project aims to preserve and showcase the cultural and linguistic heritage of World War I in Bulgaria, Greece, North Macedonia, and Serbia, promoting cultural diversity and reducing nationalist tensions in the Balkans. Through a digital museum featuring permanent and thematic exhibitions, it will present folk songs, music, film, photography, theater, tangible heritage, and an interactive map of memorial sites. The project includes archival research and artistic creations through open calls. The digital platform will provide wide access to this shared heritage, strengthening unity and European identity in the Western Balkans.
Monitoring, communication, and evaluation will be ensured through effective mechanisms that assess the success of our activities, support proactive risk management, and promote long-term impact and sustainability.
Our communication and dissemination efforts aim to design and implement cross-cutting strategies that promote the project, increase visibility, and highlight key activities and events.
The research plan will be launched, focusing on the exploration and mining of archival material. This phase will also ensure close collaboration between research partners and the technical provider to align goals and methodologies.
Researchers and artists will collaborate to recreate archival material, blending historical insight with creative expression. Artists will be selected through three open calls, and all artistic outputs will be aligned with the project’s technical requirements.
The project will culminate in two key outcomes: the launch of the WWI Digital Museum and the publication of a methodological handbook on sensitive cultural heritage management and cultural heritage entrepreneurship.
