THE AIM

The VISION project has at its core the following general objective elements: it aims to strengthen the foundations of vocational education and training systems in three SSA countries to empower younger generations of African students for successful entrepreneurial activities after graduation. This will be achieved through capacity building of VET staff in relevant entrepreneurial knowledge and the provision of digital services for business development and incubation of ideas emerging from the student population – the virtual incubators. VET staff and students are the primary target group of VISION, while the structural involvement of private sector representatives and entrepreneurs will be sought throughout the project.

PROJECT ACTIVITIES

The Vocational Institutes for Skills and Entrepreneurship in sub-Saharan Nations (VISION) project is a transformative initiative to modernize VET schools in Angola, Mozambique and Sao Tome. By aligning education with the demands of society and the labour market, VISION seeks to enhance the employability and entrepreneurial potential of VET students, enabling them to make a meaningful contribution to regional development. The project focuses on activities such as the creation of a virtual incubator hub to promote entrepreneurship, the implementation of capacity building programmes for VET staff and students and the operation of the hub to strengthen the links between education and the market. A key feature of VISION is the development of a VET market, facilitating cooperation between enterprises and students in real market work. The project prioritises sustainability and scalability, with efforts to integrate the hub model into policy frameworks and ensure its adoption by other VET institutions. With targeted training for 24 students and integrating six VET school management teams, VISION is laying the foundation for innovative educational reforms. Ultimately, this initiative is equipping the next generation in sub-Saharan Africa with the skills, knowledge and opportunities that will enable them to excel in a dynamic global economy.
