JOIST Innovation Park is pleased to announce the launch of the 3rd cycle of the SymbIASIS 2024 healthcare Accelerator program with the participation of 17 hospitals and clinics. This pioneering project, which is implemented by EIT Health and coordinated by the National Documentation Centre (EKT), in collaboration with the Archimedes Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, the Center for eHealth Applications and Services (CeHA) of FORTH and JOIST Innovation Park, aims to connect hospitals/health units and start-ups in the health sector.
A Brief Review of SymbIASIS Success
SymbIASIS was launched in 2022 and quickly established itself as Greece’s first accelerator for healthcare startups. The programme has already achieved remarkable results, far exceeding its initial objectives. In the 2023 cycle, it achieved 12 partnerships between hospitals and startups, of which 5 were new pilot projects, 4 new business partnerships, and 3 participations in European funding programmes or competitions.
SymbIASIS 2024: Goals and Prospects
For 2024, the programme aims to attract even more health start-ups and hospitals. Interested start-ups are invited to fill in the participation questionnaire to be evaluated and included in the programme. The solutions proposed should be in the “proof of concept” phase, according to the CIMIT model.
Similarly, hospitals and health units wishing to join SymbIASIS 2024 can fill in the participation questionnaire, indicating their wish to join the programme.
The programme will combine innovative solutions with the needs of hospitals, ensuring the creation of meaningful partnerships. During SymbIASIS 2024, specialized seminars and educational workshops will take place, offering startups valuable knowledge and skills in the field of digital health.
Deadlines and Submission Procedure
The deadline for submitting the entry forms is Friday, 28 June 2024. Hospitals and healthcare facilities wishing to join SymbIASIS will have the opportunity to work with innovative start-ups in the digital health sector, modernizing their methods and processes.

Prospects and Next Steps
SymbIASIS is an excellent opportunity to strengthen dialogue and cooperation between hospitals and start-ups in the health sector. With the support of EIT Health and the participation of leading institutions, the programme has already contributed substantially to modernization and innovation in the healthcare sector in Greece.
